Potential implementation: 2027
What is the position now?
Employers are not currently required to have or publish a menopause action plan.
What is changing?
The government is considering new rules for larger employers. Businesses with more than 250 employees may be expected to produce a menopause action plan and make it publicly available.
From April 2026, this is expected to be voluntary. If regulations are brought in, it would become mandatory from 2027.
What does this mean for employers?
Large employers may wish to start thinking about how they support employees experiencing menopause and whether putting a clear plan in place now could help prepare for future legal requirements.
